Discover the treasures of our region’s villages
Did you know that on the slopes of our mythical Rhône Valley lie hidden treasures of architecture and local history? Discover them all year round in the villages of our region: Lens, Chermignon, Montana-Village and, of course, our hamlet Diogne. Here at B&B La Forge de Diogne, we offer you the unique experience of discovering the sometimes little-known treasures of our beautiful region.
1. Christ Roi, Lens
Imagine yourself perched at an altitude of 1,271.9 m, facing the immensity of the Rhône plain. Not just anywhere, but at the foot of the majestic Christ the King statue in Lens. Inaugurated in 1935, this monument drew over 4,000 people from all over the Valais for its inauguration! Beneath its base, a chapel houses the coats of arms of the Valais districts and the patron saints of the Valais. Easily accessible via the Way of the Cross or, for the more athletic, from the Grand Bisse de Lens, via the south face of the hill, it's an ideal place to recharge your batteries and contemplate nature in all its splendour.
2. Diogne Chapel
Did you know that Diogne is home to a historic chapel? First mentioned in 1531, the Chapelle de Diogne has a fascinating history. Rebuilt in 1669, it was originally dedicated to Saint Michael. Its 18th-century Baroque altarpiece, depicting the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, is a real treasure. During your next stay with us, don't miss the opportunity to discover this little-known gem. Immerse yourself in local history and enjoy a moment of contemplation.
3. Château de Vaas
Welcome to Château de Vaas, Maison des cornalins. In the heart of a typical hamlet and an exceptional vineyard, this historic building transformed into an oenotheque invites you to discover the region's finest vintages and local produce. The permanent exhibition on cornalin presents the history and specific characteristics of this emblematic Valais grape variety. Enjoy a unique tasting experience (credit photo Valais Promotion).
4. Montana Village
Immerse yourself in the history of Montana-Village, the village that helped shape the popular destination of Crans-Montana. Wander through its narrow streets, witness to a vibrant agricultural and transhumance past. Every stone, every village house exudes authenticity and tells a story. (credit photo Sedrik Nemeth)
